Digital Twin Competence Center
Research, innovation, and continuing education infrastructure for the digital twin in manufacturing
The competence center’s innovative approach centers on establishing a state-of-the-art infrastructure that includes a “Digital Twin Factory” accessible in both physical and virtual environments. This infrastructure integrates a wide range of IIoT technologies deployed across both real-world manufacturing and research settings (IPT and MTI) and a shared, interconnected virtual data space (comprising software and platforms linked via cloud infrastructure).
Interactive learning stations enable users to work with digital twins of actual components and manufacturing processes, and to gain insights into production and the underlying digital twin technologies through interactive scenarios and simulations.
With the support of professional and industry associations, the center aims to identify specific needs regarding tools currently lacking for digital twin implementation, thereby aligning the research priorities of the “Digital Twin” competence center with the interests of its target groups.
Project duration: Start 15 February 2025, end 14 February 2028
