Showrooms in Aachen
The competence center’s digital infrastructure comes to life in interactive showrooms, offering a tangible, practical experience. Concrete application scenarios demonstrate how the components of the digital twin interact along an end-to-end process chain and how information is interconnected. This creates new opportunities to design processes virtually at an early stage, track conditions transparently, and leverage existing data effectively for planning, production, and optimization.
Showroom at Fraunhofer IPT
In the Fraunhofer IPT showroom, using the example of compressor blade production, you can experience how end-to-end industrial data management lays the foundation for the digital twin in industrial manufacturing. The production lifecycle demonstrates how planning and process data are systematically consolidated, linked, and made usable for various applications.
An interactive “VisualTwin” brings these interrelationships to life, allowing you to execute individual machining steps via a real NC controller—just as you would on an actual machining center. The virtual machining process is visualized vividly and realistically through a photorealistic process simulation.
Showroom at MTI | RWTH Aachen
Using a pinion shaft as an example, the MTI showroom demonstrates how research data management forms the foundation for an end-to-end digital process chain. Data from design, design of experiments (DOE), manufacturing, and quality assurance are systematically captured, linked, and made available for gaining scientific insights and for future reuse. In this context, the digital twin establishes an overarching connection between the component, the process, and the research data generated during manufacturing. An interactive “visual twin” allows users to experience activities involved in scientific research and to test processing steps through realistic, photorealistic process simulations.
We look forward to your visit to our showrooms!
